SE Laboratories, Inc. Announces Accredited Testing of ESD Simulators

Leading Independent Silicon Valley, CA calibration & repair services laboratory offers accredited testing of ESD Simulators in conformance to IEC 61000-4-2.

Santa Clara, CA – July 21, 2004 – SE Laboratories, Inc., a minority owned business (registered at www.ccr.gov – search for “S E LABORATORIES”), recognized as Silicon Valley’s leading calibration services laboratory, announced today capability to provide accredited testing of ESD Simulators to IEC standards.

SE Laboratories provides accredited calibration service of ESD Simulators, or “ESD Guns”. These instruments are tested for conformance with the specific requirements of the IEC 61000-4-2 standard.

Specifically, SE Laboratories uses a calibrated, NIST traceable Pellegrini target and shielded measuring setup for the simulators to measure the peak current, rise time, and decay waveform of the device under test. Both the tabular data and bitmap waveforms are provided as part of SE Laboratories’ service. SE Laboratories also tests the static voltage provided by the ESD simulator up to the standard 15 kV level; as well as 25 kV or 30 kV if supported by the gun.

All these tests are done within our scope of accreditation with A2LA. This accredited calibration service provides objective evidence to ESD auditors that the simulators used in ESD testing are compliant with the requirements of the IEC 61000-4-2 standard. This service is available for all makes of ESD Simulators, typical makes calibrated include EMC Partner, KeyTek, Haefely and Schaffner.
